Montecassino Abbey is a famous Benedictine abbey located in Southern-Italy and site of a decisive Second World War conflict. It is a very gorgeous building, in a hill covered by a reach forest.

Montecassino Abbey was found in 529 by San Benedetto da Norcia, over the site of the pagan temple of Apollo, where the sculpture of Apollo was destroyed along with the altar. The abbey was destoyed many times by Longobardi and Saraceni, and in 1944 from the last world war conflict.
His renewing started in 1945, from its old marbles. It is a place rich of art, history and and tradition from San Benedetto period. Now it is possible to admire this masterpiece: you will enter the Basilica passing three large cloisters in succession and then you will admire the “Loggia del Paradiso” or a water well with marble statues of San benedetto and Santa Scolastica.
The interior has three naves, decorated with sumptuous gilded stuccos. They was rebuilt on an original seventeenth-century design.
Montecassino abbey is famous for its rich Library, a national monument, where rare and ancient works are preserved.
Numerous rooms, including the one of “Bozzetti”, are part of the Montecassino Museum built in 1980 on the occasion of the fifteenth centenary of the birth of its founder.
